Squalene

Squalene Molecule
Squalene is a natural tri-terpene hydrocarbon. It is a precursor in the synthesis of steroid hormones and vitamin D in the body. Squalene is isolated from shark liver oil and from plant sources such as amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ and olives.
Squalene appears to represent a vital component in the foods that make up the so-called “Mediterranean diet” and may be acting as a chemopreventative substance that protects the consumer from cancer 1.
Apart from food applications, squalene is also used in the manufacture of some cosmetics and as an immunologic adjuvant in vaccines.
Squalene from New Vision Biotech is manufactured from shark liver oil (derived from non-endangered species of sharks only). It is available as a straw-coloured, translucent liquid in 5, 10 and 20 L containers. Bulk quantity (>100 L/order) discounts apply.
